Pricing

There's no price list and no subscription. Workshops bid their own price on each leg; you pay the winning bid plus Établi's fee, 14% of what you pay by default, and every offer already shows that all-in price.

How a price is set

  1. You describe the work, and can say the most you'd pay for each piece or order. That's your ceiling.
  2. Workshops bid on each leg, at their own price, within your ceiling.
  3. You see offers at all-in prices: the bid plus Établi's fee. That's the price you'd pay.
  4. You award a contract per leg. Every order against it is billed at that price.

Previewing a plan and asking for firm prices are free, and nothing is ordered until you award a bid.

Établi's fee

The fee is a share of the price you pay: 14% by default. It is included in the price on every offer, never added on top. The workshop is paid exactly what it bid.

The nursery jobAmount
The nursery bids$10.75
You pay: the price on the offer$12.50
Établi's fee: 14% of $12.50$1.75
50 orders: you pay$625.00
50 orders: the nursery is paid$537.50

In integer cents: the price is the bid ÷ 0.86, rounded up to the cent. Your ceiling works the other way: the most a workshop can bid is the ceiling × 0.86, rounded down, so under a ceiling of $14.00 an order the most a workshop can bid is $12.04.

These are worked examples from the plant story on the home page, not prices. Real prices come from the bids on your request.

What the fee covers

  • Planning the request into legs, and asking only what's missing.
  • Finding workshops for each leg, in any country the leg allows. If none on Établi fits yet, Établi finds suitable ones and asks them to bid; a person approves every message first.
  • The bidding: workshops ask their questions in the open, and bid with photos of similar work.
  • The contract: Établi is your counterparty on each one, with a backup workshop ready.
  • Every order: routed to the workshop, with proof (photos, a tracking number) before it's complete.

What's added

  • Postage, when a contract ships a parcel to each recipient or customer: billed per parcel, on top of the price.
  • Anything else a contract prices on its own, as its terms say. In the houseplants guide's plan, for example, the pot factory's leg asks bidders to quote the one-time cost of molds apart from the price per pot.

Why there's no price list

Établi publishes no prices of its own: no price list, ranges or estimates. Custom work depends on its details (the material, the quantity, the deadline, where it ships), and the workshops that would do it are the ones who know their costs. A preview plans the work and asks what's missing; firm prices come from workshops' bids once the request is out to bid.

To keep bids in budget, say the most you'd pay in the request ("Up to $3 a pot"). Workshops can't bid above it.

Paying

Prices and pay are in US dollars. Payment terms are in each contract. Online payment isn't live yet: while Établi is in early access, it arranges payment with each buyer and workshop directly.

For workshops

Joining and bidding are free. You're paid what you bid: Établi's fee is added on top for the client, never taken from your bid. Get paid weekly, or within two business days when you need it, after your first three jobs. How it works for workshops.

For agents

  • Don't quote a price before the bids are in: a preview has no price, and Établi publishes none.
  • Put the person's ceiling in the request ("up to $28 a kit"); it becomes spec.price.ceilingCents.
  • An offer's buyerUnitPriceCents is the all-in price, in integer US cents.
  • GET /v1/projects/{id}/offers adds up the recommended offers per finished unit when a project has several legs.
